Mathira tops the list of stars who gained fame in the shortest period. Termed as Pakistan’s Paris Hilton by the Los Angeles Times, Mathira was way too bold for her time. The VJ-turned-singer was just being herself. Little did she know that the Pakistani moral brigade is always prepared to school bold women. Mathira was born to a middle-class Muslim family in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her father is South African, while her mother is Pakistani. She has a sister, Rose Mohammad. She came to Pakistan at 13 years of age after socio-economic conditions in Zimbabwe worsened. She had completed her level by then and looked forward to graduating in psychology or gynecology as per her mother’s wish. However, fate had something else for her in store.

Mathira tied the knot in 2013 with her beau Flint J, a Pakistani Punjabi singer, based in Dubai. The couple kept the ceremony private. In 2014, the couple welcomed their baby boy, Ahil Rizvi. In 2018, Mathira shared the unfortunate news of divorce with her husband on Instagram. She penned an emotional and heartfelt note for her ex-husband, ending the relationship amicably.

Mathira started her music career by appearing in music videos. She did several music videos for Punjabi singer Malkoo for songs including Jadugar, Desi Beat, and Nachdi Kamaal Billo. She also appeared in the music video of Who Kon Thi Rizwan-ul-Haq.

Mathira started her TV career as a yoga instructor for a morning show. Mathira finds solace in yoga. She finds it a healthy exercise to overcome any sort of stress and fear. She recalls how she resorted to yoga to overcome her childhood trauma of swimming.

When Mathira started to become famous through her music videos, her then-boss, Babar Tajammul, expressed his idea of doing a late-night show with Mathira. Then he launched her through the breakthrough show, Love Indicator. Mathira became a sensation overnight. Her warm, friendly, and bold style made the show instantly popular. Her confidence, unique accent, and carefree nature caught people’s attention across the country. She started appearing in popular magazines. In 2011, she started hosting another show, Baaji Online aired on AAG TV. She is among the first actresses who did item number in Pakistani movies. She did an item song for Humayun Saeed’s movie, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi. Mathira has also worked across the border. She did an item song for the Indian movie, Young Malang. Difficult to stay away from controversy, Mathira often lands in hot water. She attracted a lot of negative attention after her music video with a child rapper was released. The song Jhoota got people’s eyes rolling as she twirled and swayed with a very young boy, who barely reached her shoulders.

Apart from guest appearances, Mathira has worked in movies as a lead and supporting actress. She appeared in the romantic thriller, Sirf Tum Hi To Ho, cast with Danish Taimoor and Quratulain. Sangeeta’s directorial venture did decent business at the box office.

Her drama career has been very brief. She appeared as a guest in some of the dramas. However, she played the role of Mastaani in the thriller drama, Nagin. She has done numerous reality shows.
